What are you waiting on?
POETRY, cont.— alliteration, assonance, and
consonance. Understand poetic rules before bending
them!
More poetry is rejected than any thing else.
Don't rhyme for rhyme's sake. It waters down your
message coming across contrived and stilted. Avoid
overuse of fill words to maintain rhythm.

COOK'S CORNER – Recipes plus fun stories on
why you make these dishes. Up to 3 recipes per issue.
Must be tasty, easy to prepare, and not break the
budget. Main Dishes, Salads, Vegetable Variations,
Stews and Soups, Casseroles, and Desserts of all
kinds. If of health benefit, explain. Use a catchy name
for your culinary contribution. Cite the food/ dish
category it fits (meat, etc.). Include an amusing story,
by all means, but keep that segment to 200 words
which accompanies the recipe itself. Use standard
measurement abbreviations: C. for cup; Tbs. -
Tablespoon; tsp. - teaspoon. If a
small photo of the
finished dish is available - send with your submission in
".jpg" or ".gif" format. Small extra payment for up to 3
photos.
TIP: Providing nutritional analysis helps boost
acceptance.

Melody of the Heart Online Magazine (MOH) is a
Bi-Monthly Christian Publication, published by
EpistleWorks Creations, owned and operated by
JoAnn R. Wray. Before submitting, carefully study our
guidelines and understand the target audience.

Writing should exhibit excellence in basics and move
the heart of the reader closer to God. Writers should
have clear focus, fluid prose, and understand the craft
of writing with a professional approach. Please edit
carefully before submitting. Avoid passive writing,
redundancy, and meandering. Don't write words simply
to turn a pretty phrase, rather make every word count.
Don't anguish over "politically correct" phrasing. It is
still permissible to refer to God as "He, Him, or His" in
this publication.

TIP: "Read the guidelines, read the guidelines,
read the guidelines."
Guidelines help you know when
to send an item via the Submission Form and when to
query before sending the whole piece. Some fail to
query professionally. Even if you know an editor, submit
queries, articles, or poetry in a professional way.
Always include a bio, no matter how brief.

No publishing credits? That's not a deterrent to
publication. Each submission is carefully and
prayerfully considered. We look for quality writing.
Please - be open to editing suggestions as well.

Our target audience is women from 30 to 65 plus,
although others also read MOH. Special columns or
departments for men are featured. Material is divided
into different interests and topics. Regular columnists
work is used. Topics range from marriage to health,
children to hobbies, cooking, crafts, fillers, with a big
dose of humor along the way. Readers should come
away informed, helped, inspired, encouraged,
enlightened, even laughing.

Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

Remember, this includes not only the Word of God, but
also study of all the information and tools you need to

Wondering Why? -- Writers often ask why it seems so difficult to find the
Submission Form. There's a purpose behind the layout. I
want writers to read
and study the guidelines well. Those who don't bother to study and submit without
careful consideration are obvious to editors.
PLEASE study and under stand any
publication's guidelines. We editors created them to help you as a writer. Read on!
