Michael Larsen, AAR - This is a book written by an author with know-how. Michael Larsen worked in promotion for major pulishers: William Morrow, Bantam, and Pyramid (now Jove). He is the author of twelve books with several on "painted ladies" also known as Victorian houses. He and his wife are literary agents with their own company, Michael Larsen/Elizabeth Pomoda Literary Agents, representing book-length fiction and nonfiction for adults. This book is filled with all the details for successful proposals and gives examples. One especially great thing in this book is the "Hot Tip" section included in each chapter. Writing Articles About the World Around You - How people and places you know can spark ideas for hundreds of salable articles. By Marcia Yudkin. The author details the ways to use your own life as a resource for articles. "You don't need a story idea of earth-shartering maginitude to compose an article readers wil appreciate - you just need to recognize the great rwriting material that is part of your everyday life." How-tos, reviews, opinion pieces. Create interest using timeliness, curiosity, empathy, compassion, insight and entertainment value. People articles from folks in your life: profiles, Q&As, topical group profiles and roundups. This book is a treasure for the freelancer wanting to make the most of marketing abundantly and writing quickly! Getting the Words Right - How to Rewrite, Edit & Revise by Theodore A. Rees Cheney- First published in 1990 and still here. Great book for learning to edit your work. How to Write Attention-Grabbing Query & Cover Letters by John Wood. We used this book as a model for our workshop on writing queries at Fellowship of Christian Writers Meetings with phenomenal results! The Complete Guide to Writing & Selling the Christian Novel- by Penelope J. Stokes, Ph.D. The current penultimate book on writing fiction from the Christian perspective. Still getting rave reviews. Write More, Sell More- by Robert Bly. To make the most money for your time, learn to write faster and more efficiently. Learn effective strategies for making the most of every aspect of the writing business. Develop highly efficient work habits, reach better-paying markets, craft queries and proposals that get you the best deals, and generate referrals, repeat business, reprints and resales. Much more. Writing in the Flow -Susan K. Perry, Ph.D. An analysis of flow and definition of it. Perry then shows you how to make it happen, provides multiple insights and inspiration. Included are the perspectives of more than 75 best-selling and award winning authors who share their technique for enhancing writing creativity and productivity. A word of caution on this one though. It can get rather "new-agey" in flavor and has a lot of "psycho-babble." One entire segment had different writers likening "writing in the flow" to having sexual orgasm! book. I consider it my "writing bible" and refer to it often even
though it has been in print for many
years, first as a WD book and now in an updated form from Brohaugh
through another publisher. Good for learning the basics of targeting your writing to markets to make a sale. Authors are Christian and widely known, prolific writers. Prentice Hall Reference Guide to Grammar and Usage by Muriel Harris. Prentice Hall. This book's ease of use is amazing and has wonderful referencing system. You'll love it! Please
